I listen to sleep stories on the Calm app at bedtime, and there’s one called “The Cornish Riviera Express” that I love. So it was fun to stumble on your post and see what’s at the end of that train ride. I’d love to visit someday!

It's an area that I know well, but I've never done the train journey. Lovely piece, thank you.

I follow a few artists who live in that area, and find it hard not to be envious—but instead, grateful they share their journeys, views, and responses to the landscape. Sounds like you had a wonderful retreat there.

Oh Rachel, wherever you go you describe it in such a fashion that I want to rush for the next train!

A friend went to Penzance on the train a few years ago and stayed at the hotel owned by Jean Shrimpton- Abbey House, or something. My friend did a ghost walk with a guide at dusk and I added it to my bucket list immediately.

I think slightly out of season is the time to go, and fingers crossed the rain stays away.
